The North Norfolk Railway will hold an Open Day on Saturday 26 March to allow visitors interested in volunteering at the Railway the chance to tour the line, meet current volunteers and discover the different roles available. A number of heritage railways have recently announced the cancellation of war-centric events and, as a result media and public have enquired about the status of our Dad's Army Live and Steam Back to the Forties events. Ivatt 2-6-2T No 41241 is set to make a rare appearance away from Keighley & Worth Valley Railway metals as guest locomotive at the North Norfolk Railway’s Spring Steam Gala on 1, 2 & 3 April. 41241 is a preservation pioneer, having moved to Keighley under her own steam in 1967 after barely 18 years’ service with British Railways. Class 37, D6732, will be in action at the head of the North Norfolk Railway’s diesel services on Saturday 26 March to mark both the locomotive’s 60th Birthday and her return to service following a thorough repaint into the British Railways’ green she carried when she first entered service in March 1962. The locomotive is one of over 300 English Electric Type 3s delivered between 1960 and 1965 as part of British Railways’ modernisation plan. The North Norfolk Railway’s Carriage and Wagon team has started an intensive programme of coach repainting and revarnishing to help make up some of the ground lost as a result of lockdowns, restricted working and the intensive use of compartment stock over the past 18 months. £397,000 Awarded to the North Norfolk Railway by HM Government The North Norfolk Railway has been awarded £397,000 by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport and the National Lottery Heritage Fund. This is part of a large investment in to the Government’s Culture Recovery Fund, and will help organisations such as the North Norfolk Railway with its recovery from the impacts of COVID-19. £360,000 funding from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport

The North Norfolk Railway has been awarded £360,000 from the Government as part of a £1.57bn injection from the Culture Recovery Fund which has been set up to help Britain's world-class cultural, arts and heritage sites bounce back from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. This money will go a long way in helping us to recover from the incredibly different year this has been.
