TRAIN SERVICES & EVENTS FOLLOWING THE PASSING OF HER MAJESTY QUEEN ELIZABETH II
We were saddened to hear of the death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. We offer our condolences to the Royal Family at this sad time are grateful for Her Majesty’s decades of service.
Friday 9 September was particularly poignant for our team as the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service announced at the Platinum Jubilee weekend was to have been formally presented at a special ceremony.
Our trains will continue to run normally, except on the day of the State Funeral when the Railway will be closed.
The Steam Back to The Forties weekend on 17 & 18 September will proceed. We will ensure activities are respectful and make adjustments where necessary. Each station will have an area of remembrance and the Railway will honour Her Majesty’s service in the 1940s that was a pre-cursor to her decades of dedication to her public role.
