Permanent Way Maintenance Ganger

The North Norfolk Railway operates steam and heritage diesel trains through beautiful coastal countryside between the Georgian town of Holt and the smart Victorian seaside resort of Sheringham. The 5½ mile line is largely operated by volunteers, attracting around 150,000 passengers each year. It is one of the County’s most popular tourist attractions and hosts a series of popular annual events including the Forties Weekend in September and the acclaimed Norfolk Lights Express in November and December.

We are now seeking an Permanent Way Maintenance Ganger to join our Infrastructure Department.

Based at Weybourne this position encompasses the inspection, repair, refurbishment & running maintenance of the track and associated groundwork on the full 5½ miles of running line on a heritage steam railway.

Applicants should be physically fit and prepared for working outside throughout the year in all weathers.

A full driving license will be required and experience with digging plant, chainsaw operations & petrol powered tools may prove advantageous.

Applicants will need to be self-motivated and capable of working with minimum supervision as part of a full-time 2 man team.
